TUI’s last-minute holidays specialist L’Tur has named Benjamin Jacobi as its new managing director from October 1. The 37-year-old, who previously held various managerial roles at TUI, is currently responsible for products and finances. He replaces Marek Andryszak who will focus fully on his new role of CEO at TUI Germany.

Separately, TUI Group’s marketing manager Erik Friemuth has been appointed as a second managing director for TUI Hotels alongside Thomas Pietzka. Friemuth will be in charge of developing the group’s own brand hotels (TUI Blue, Robinson and TUI Magic Life) while Pietzka will concentrate on the financial holdings, including Riu Hotels, Grupotel and Atlantica.

DER Touristik has appointed Dino Steinkamp as head of its newly-structured ‘Europe and special trips’ unit. This covers North and Central Europe as well as products such as golf, wellness, active holidays and cultural trips.

At Thomas Cook Group, Kirsten Feld-Türkis, who was Group Director Special Product with responsibility for premium and long-haul offers, has left the company after two years. Cook has decided to split up the Specialist Product unit into the ‘differentiated’ and ‘complementary’ product areas. The former long-serving TUI manager was responsible for the launch of the Thomas Cook Signature brand in Germany last year.

There have been several managerial changes at Anex Tour, the new Turkish-owned package tour operator based in Düsseldorf. Product and procurement chief Markus Leutner, previously with Thomas Cook, has left the company after just one year and has joined Luxair Tours. The new product chief is Joachim Heek while Carsten Burgmann has been promoted to Chief Commercial Officer following the departure of Dirk Burneleit in May. Former TUI Russia manager Okay Yilderim has been managing director of Anex Tour since June.

Meanwhile, several tourist boards have appointed new Germany directors.

Arturo Ortiz Arduán will be the new head of Turespaña in Germany from September, in place of Manuel Butler who is returning to Madrid. Ortiz Arduán previously worked in the offices in Berlin and Düsseldorf and has managed several Turespaña offices in other countries since then.

Vicky Stroumpou has taken over as head of the Greek National Tourist Office in Frankfurt in place of interim manager Eleni Melita who is moving to Vienna as head of the tourist office in Austria. Stroumpou was previously at the head office in Athens.

The Austrian tourist board has extended the responsibilities of Zurich-based Carmen Breuss to cover Germany, Austria and Switzerland, with Sabine Holzmann in charge of the German market.

Theresa Bay-Müller, Germany director of South African Tourism, has been given responsibility for Austria and Switzerland as well. The SAT office in Frankfurt has been upgraded to a ‘Central European Hub’.
