The two tour operators are working together on products and sales to compete better with DER/Kuoni and TUI.
The second-largest tour operators in Germany and Switzerland are deepening their existing cooperation on the Swiss market.
Under their new agreement, Hotelplan will sell products of Neckermann Reisen, Thomas Cook and Öger Tours more strongly in its 120 travel agencies in Switzerland as well as through its Travel.ch portal.
In parallel, Thomas Cook will provide Hotelplan with hotel capacity from its bedbank as well as in selected group resorts such as Sentido and Smartline properties. Thomas Cook’s Swiss-based unit already produces a large programme of self-drive holidays and city trips in Europe for the group’s Continental European tour operators.
“We’re delighted to intensify this long-standing partnership and thus to be able to offer our customers an even wider portfolio of offers,” said Kurt Eberhard, CEO Hotelplan Suisse.
Stefanie Berk, Thomas Cook’s managing director for Central Europe and East, added: “With the Swiss tour operator we have a very renowned partner with an excellent sales network, with whom we can offer our hotel product much more widely in Switzerland.”
Hotelplan faces strong competition from DER Touristik-owned Kuoni, the Swiss market leader, and from third-ranked TUI Suisse. Thomas Cook is not among the market leaders in Switzerland and has mostly sold its German holiday programme there to date.
