TUI is again growing faster than the overall German organised travel market this year, Germany chief Marek Andryszak claimed at the programme presentation for next summer. The market leader has increased its market share to 23.3%, according to researchers GfK. Moreover, customer satisfaction has improved to 8.68 points (on a scale of 1 to 10), with Turkey topping the short-haul ranking with 9.07 points and the Maldives the overall winner with 9.41 points.

“Despite Hurricane Irma and the Air Berlin insolvency, we have done very well this summer and currently have strong demand for the winter,” said Andryszak. Spain, Greece and Croatia were the winners this summer, while Tunisia has made a comeback.

Highlights of TUI’s summer 2018 programme include a 10% increase in family hotels and new offers for younger customers. There are nine new Best Family hotels and two Family Life properties along with seven new TUI own-brand hotels, including four TUI Blue properties. TUI aims to increase its share of the family package holiday market from 19% at present to 25% in future.

In terms of destinations, TUI expects continued good demand next year for Spain, Greece, Croatia and Bulgaria but also Tunisia, and has increased capacity accordingly. “I expect growth above all in North Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean, not least in Turkey once again,” said Andryszak.

The number of hotels in Greece has been increased by 20%, including five new TUI Best Family hotels on Rhodes, Kos, Corfu and the Peloponnese coast. Hotel capacity in Bulgaria has been increased by 25% while the number of family hotels in Croatia has been increased by 10%, with various exclusive properties in both destinations. Flight capacity to Tunisia will be increased by 25,000 seats. TUI is also underlining its confidence in Destination USA with 17 new hotels in southern states.
