German holidaymakers are returning to Egypt, new figures have confirmed. The number of Germans visiting the country rose by more than one third in the first three months of this year. Arrivals increased by 35% to 227,000 in total. Demand has improved strongly this year after the heavy decline in 2016.

Morocco is also seeing good demand at present, prompting FTI to increase capacity to Agadir. The tour operator has added more weekly flights with Condor from Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Munich from July to October. In addition, FTI has contracted a full-charter with Lufthansa for flights from Munich from September 3 to October 31. In total, FTI will offer 11 weekly flights from six German airports to Agadir this summer.

New charter airline Azur Air will launch flights from Düsseldorf in mid-June after its original plan to take off in April had to be postponed because its AOC licence took longer to be approved than expected. The airline will operate a B767-300, with 334 seats, to Majorca, Egypt and Turkey. A second B767-300 is expected to start flights to the Dominican Republic shortly afterwards, and a third plane is due to be added in October. The airline is a sister company to start-up tour operator Anex Tour which is offering package holidays in Spain, Greece, Croatia, Bulgaria, Turkey and the Dominican Republic this summer.

Alltours and Öger Tours are the latest German tour operators to open up parts of their winter 2017/18 programmes for bookings. Travel agents can book nearly 1,000 Alltours hotels along with 150 hotels offered by Öger Tours.

TUI’s new hotel brand, TUI Blue, is continuing to grow with four re-branded hotels around the Mediterranean and construction of a new hotel in Austria. From the summer 2018 season, the portfolio will be expanded to include TUI Blue Rocador in Mallorca, TUI Blue Falesia in Portugal, TUI Blue Palm Beach Palace in Djerba and TUI Blue Marmaris in Turkey. In Austria, the newly-built TUI Blue Pulse Montafon will open in Schruns-Tschagguns in summer 2019. TUI Blue has already launched six hotels in the market within one year. The next new hotel will be TUI Blue Jadran in Croatia, opening in Summer 2017. Further hotels are scheduled for repositioning in the Winter 2018/19 and Summer 2019 seasons.
