More capacity for Greece, a cruise partnership and a specialist tour operator takeover are in the news this week.
FTI is increasing capacity for Crete in response to strong demand for Greece holidays this summer. The tour operator will operate additional weekly charter flights from Frankfurt to Chania with Primera Air from July 28 onwards. In total, FTI will offer 117 weekly flights from 25 German cities to Crete this summer.
Turkey specialist Bentour Reisen is continuing to diversify its programme with the addition of combined beach/cruise holidays in cooperation with TUI Cruises. The company already cooperates with Celelstyal Cruises for trips in the Aegean and to Cuba.
Leisure airline Niki, which has taken over the bulk of Air Berlin’s beach holiday routes, has unveiled its flight schedule for winter 2017/18. The carrier will operate 145 weekly flights from Germany, Austria and Switzerland to Palma, and 30 to Malaga, along with numerous services to the Canary Islands, Portugal, Morocco and smaller winter destinations.
Dutch-based Sundio Group International has acquired the German youth travel specialist JAM Reisen. Sundio is one of the largest Dutch tour operators with more than one million customers in the Netherlands and various other European markets. JAM Reisen, whose former owners will continue to manage the firm, has some 40,000 guests and turnover of about €20 million.
