Kuoni has launched an online-only tour operator on the Swiss market that is offering discounts of up to 40% compared to brochure deals booked in travel agencies.
The new brand, X-Helvetic Tours, is a ‘dynamic tour operator’ that bundles available airline and hotel capacity into holiday packages on a daily basis. The offers are exclusively available online through the company’s website.
Prices can be as much as 40% lower than the pre-produced holidays marketed through brochures, according to the company. Moreover, offers can be lower than in neighbouring eurozone countries, it said. Due to the strong Swiss franc, many Swiss consumers living in border regions have switched in recent months to booking holidays with German or French tour operators which offer lower euro-based prices.
“X-helvetictours.ch is targeted at consumers who mostly seek the cheapest flight and hotel offers and do not need any advice or care,” Kuoni stated. Nevertheless, the packages offer ‘Swiss quality’, it added.

The new brand uses ‘Dynamix’, the new dynamic packaging solution from German travel IT firm Traveltainment for international markets. This combines flights and hotels from diverse sources, including scheduled, charter and low-cost carriers. Kuoni said the new brand can call on eight million offers from 50 airlines to 65 destinations and 3,000 beach hotels, as well as 42,000 city hotels via the databases of Kuoni and new subsidiary GTA.
