Marriott doubles up
Marriott International announced plans in Berlin this week to double its presence in Europe to 80,000 rooms by 2015. the hotel giant currently has 174 European properties in its portfolio.
The strategy includes introducing three new brands: Residence Inn, for extended-stay guests; a boutique collaboration with Ian Schrager called Edition; and the Autograph Collection of independent upmarket properties. “We see a strong opportunity in Europe to grow,” said Marriott International president and chief operating officer Arne Sorenson.Hall 9, Stand 302
