Germany’s fourth-largest tour operator claims to have cut prices by 4.5% on average, which is more than other market leaders. Significant price reductions include for Egypt (-7%), Turkey (-5%), Tunisia (-3.5%), the Canary Islands (-3%) and Majorca (-2%). Long-haul destinations will be 3% more expensive due to the stronger dollar, however. Despite the lower prices owner Willi Verhuven aims to generate a 12% increase in bookings, mostly by selling more high-value winter holidays.

This would help to compensate for disappointing sales this year. The Duisburg-based operator ended winter 2009/10 with a 9% drop in bookings while summer sales are currently slightly lower than last year. Alltours originally aimed for a 5% bookings increase for the whole year but now simply aims to hold last year’s level stable. Bookings have picked up since the end of June and capacity to Majorca has been increased.

The main product innovations for winter 2010/11 include scheduled flights with Emirates, Sri Lankan and Thai Airways, along with Hilton hotels in Thailand. Following the successful launch of the Maldives last winter, Sri Lanka will be a new destination this winter. "The addition of the Maldives last winter exceeded our expectations significantly. We are convinced that Sri Lanka will also be a success," commented tourism director Ronny de Clercq.

In the medium-haul market, Alltours will offer Marsa Alam, with 10 hotels, for the first time as part of an expanded Egypt programme. There are also more flights to the Canary Islands. Alltours has also increased the number of exclusively-offered hotels to 25%, which is 15% more than last winter, and added two more Allsun hotels.
