The Las Aguilas hotel on Tenerife has soared to first place in Spain in the latest fvw Hotelometer rankings of popular hotels for German tourists.
The eagle has flown to the top of the perch. The Las Aguilas overtook the Blau Punta Reina, which dropped to third in the fortnight from October 3 - 16, according to the demand-based ranking. The Lopesan Costa Meloneras was in second place.
The SBH group was also a winner with four different hotels on Fuerteventura in the top ten. Overall, eight of the top ten hotels were in the Canary Islands with two on Majorca as demand shifted ahead of the winter season.
In Turkey, the top two hotels remained the same but there was plenty of movement lower down the top ten ranking. The Royal Dragon in Kumköy remained head of the ranking ahead of the Primasol Hane Family and the Delphin Imperial. There were four new names in the top ten: the Fame Residence Lara (5th) and the Limak Lars de Luxe, Side Alegria and the Primasol Hane Garden, which were 8th to 10th respectively.
In Greece, there were few changes. The Mitsis Rinela Beach remained top of the ranking, while the Hotel Lyttos Beach moved up to second, leaving the Pilot Beach Resort in third place.
The fvw Hotelometer is a fortnightly ranking of the most popular tourist hotels in Turkey, Spain and Greece, showing customer enquiries but not actual bookings. It is based on all enquiries in the Traveltainment reservations system used by German travel agents and online booking engines. The data, supplied by IT company TrevoTrend, is split into different categories (overall, families, couples, singles and star ratings).
