A price-cutting hotel on Majorca surged from nowhere to top the latest fvw Hotelometer ranking as the most popular Spanish hotel for German holidaymakers in late November.
The adult-only hotel THB Felip Class at Porto Cristo entered the overall top ten ranking for Spain in first place for the fortnight from November 14-27. It was also first in the ranking of couples’ preferences. The four-star hotel had a very low average price per person of just €234 compared to €899 for the second-placed Blau Punta Reina Resort and €1,212 for the third-placed Lopesan Costa Meloneras.
Three other hotels on Majorca also ranked in the overall top ten, and eight of the top ten in the family ranking were properties on the island. This indicates that many of the enquiries in late November were for summer 2017 holidays rather than late bookings for winter 2016/17, which would normally favour hotels in the Canary Islands.
In Greece, the most popular hotels swapped places. The Lindos Princess Beach overtook the Mitsis Rinela Beach to rank first, while the Lyttos Beach rose one place to third, pushing the Pilot Beach Resort down to fourth.
In Turkey, the Royal Dragon in Kumköy defended top spot from the Miracle Resort in Lara and the Primasol Hane Garden hotel in Side, which all saw good demand from families. Couples’ favourites were the Side Crown Palce, the Delphin Imperial and the Royal Dragon.
The fvw Hotelometer is a fortnightly ranking of the most popular tourist hotels in Spain, Greece and Turkey, showing customer enquiries but not actual bookings. It is based on all enquiries in the Traveltainment reservations system used by German travel agents and online booking engines. The data, supplied by IT company TrevoTrend, is split into different categories (overall, families, couples, singles and star ratings).
