Hop pilots set to go on strike over weekend

The strike could cause chaos as this year France's national day July 14 falls on a Friday, meaning many are set to head away for a long weekend.

Flights operated by French budget airline Hop will be disrupted during the long holiday weekend due to a pilot's strike after discussions between the company and trade unions fell through on Tuesday.

But the airline assured travellers that “more than 80 percent of flights” were running on Thursday, which marked the first day of the strike. ”The flights at risk of being disrupted are those that are carried out by regional planes,” the company added.
